9/11... WE WILL NEVER FORGET

"Today marks the seventh anniversary of the day our world was broken. It lives forever in our hearts and our history, a tragedy that unites us in a common memory and a common story ... the day that began like any other and ended as none ever has."

The country honored the nearly 3,000 victims of the worst terrorist attack on American soil Thursday with ceremonies in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania to mark seven years since Sept. 11, 2001.

At the White House, President Bush led a moment of silence on the South Lawn at 8:46 a.m., the time that terrorists flew the first commercial jetliner into one of the Twin Towers of World Trade Center. The second plane crashed into the other tower at 9:03 a.m.

After the White House remembrance, Bush headed to the Pentagon in Washington to dedicate a memorial to each life lost when American Airlines Flight 77 hit that building — a symbol of American military prowess — in the third strike that morning.

A fourth plane that was apparently headed for the White House or the Capitol building in Washington crashed prematurely. A ceremony was also held there where at least 200 people gathered Thursday morning at an observance in a reclaimed minefield in Shanksville where Flight 93 came down after passengers reportedly stormed the cockpit to thwart terrorists' plans to use that plane as a weapon like the others. Bells were to toll and victims' names would be read as part of the service.

On a side note, but also related.... The following video was sent to me by my good friend Misty... I think it says more than enough about Obama vs. McCain. Enjoy.

IKE took a HIKE!

Thankfully, Ike is not coming to Louisiana. We'll still get some bad weather tomorrow, and a little more on Friday. But other than that, we're in the clear!

Best of luck to all those in the Texas area getting hit by this not-so-fun guy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you... and I hope FEMA is better to y'all than they were to us!

GIVE US A BREAK!!!!

SERIOUSLY... what the heck. Not to wish any ill luck on anyone else, but we really don't need another hurricane to hit us only 3 weeks after one just visited... UGH!

Our Saturday...

...was spent fixing the hurricane damage at our townhouse in Baton Rouge. Was a little worse than we thought, so we'll see what Ike does to it next... may even get a new roof out of it (I'm trying to see the positive in these things!)

As Josh was fixing the roof, a neighbor from 2 roofs over came over to help him out. Nice to know there are still good people in this world!

Home again, home again...

... ok so I will NEVER evacuate again. That was more of a headache than anything. Sitting in traffic, spending way too much money on eating out.. etc.. etc... Not happening again! We have power back at the house, but no phone, cable, or internet yet. I'm at work right now, with not a lot to do because there's a ton of businesses that just aren't going back to work until Monday. So for now I'll just chill here, in the A/C, and surf the net. I have some pics to post, but I can't get them out of my phone for some reason! We didn't get any damage here in Covington to our house, and just a few places on the roof and the gate need some work at the townhouse in Baton Rouge, so we were definitely blessed in that area! Mom and Dad are still without power, but don't want to come to Covington... guess they just don't love us anymore - haha! Just kidding... Now we just have to keep an eye on Hurricane Ike who's chillin out there right now. They don't know what he's gonna do. One day he's coming at us and the next he's going north... Will keep everyone updated!
